Setting your price

You are Worth What you Say you are Worth

You are Worth What you Say you are Worth

Really? Then double your rates today. Now. And then you’ll hear the chorus of internal doubting voices, telling you why you think you can’t get away with charging that kind of money.

What you make per hour, per ad, or per project is directly proportional to how much you value your own time, expertise, and contribution to your clients.

This doesn’t work like magic. But the next time you think you’re charging too much, ask yourself if that’s really the problem, or if it’s more likely:

  • No one who’s willing to pay any price knows my site/work exists
  • I’m not providing the value
  • I’m not conveying that I provide value

The voice in your head that tells you to lower prices is the voice of insecurity - the voice that lives in fear that someone won’t like me more than it fears failure. Instead listen to the quieter, calmer voice that asks, “What am I doing wrong? How am I not creating value and/or conveying it to the right people?” That’s the voice that will lead you in the right direction.

Surely everyone who knows that is intelligent enough to realize that if they leave more attention grabbing comments they will receive more traffic and that by leaving a stupid comment they could damage their reputation.

No one needs help with that.

I’e seen 2 posts recently on popular blogs that give out tips for “how you should (or should not) comment” and I must say the reading these posts makes me think the authors are stuck in their own crazy little world.

While it’s tempting to position yourself as an expert when you don’t in fact know anything, just don’t. There are newbie tips that really aren’t obvious to newbies, and then there are tips that anyone can figure out for themselves.

Why should you care? Because he’s testing the waters on something that might benefit you, and it involves spending $1000 USD on Adwords in 90 days, which is not something all of us can afford to do. But if he makes back his investment and learns a few things, then you might decide it’s worth saving up for.

I did some searching and finally found a plugin that lets you use Javascript directly in your posts. The plugin is called Scriptenabler - this link directly downloads the plugin’s zip file (there is no page on plugin page for this plugin on the author’s site). Thanks very much to Life After Coffee for posting about the plugin, and of course to Otto, the developer of the plugin.

Belle needed a plugin to run her CJ Ebay links, and this was her solution.

Keeping your Wordpress install safe

Tips for Protecting Wordpress

Take the “stats” line out of the head area; WordPress needs stats less than you need not to tell anyone what version you’re running.
Password-protect the wp-admin directory (this means you’ll have to log in twice to get to the Dashboard)

Some basic and not-so-basic tips.
